The course introduces students to the major genres (forms) of
literature: prose fiction, drama, poetry, biography, autobiography, oral
literature and the essay. This will deepen their insights into the nature of
literature and its relevance to humankind. Both the external and internal
structures of the literary works will be explored. Besides examining the
differences and similarities among these literary genres, this unit will show
how to identify, describe and discuss features of literary matter.
